Labor Force Analysis
Labor force availability and quality is the number one site selection criteria for almost any industry. Nortillo and Associates, Inc. labor force analysis uses field work to analyze the labor shed by identifying the professional, skilled and unskilled labor supply, the underemployed worker, wages and salaries, fringe benefits, education and training. The labor force analysis also analyzes the quality of the workforce in terms of work ethic by looking at variables such as; absenteeism, work attitudes, trainability, basic skills – math, English, grammar, communications, alcohol/drugs and productivity.
Commuting Patterns Analysis As communities address their labor supply issues, especially the professional worker, a labor shed commuting analysis is needed. This analysis identifies occupations and skill sets of the labor force and where these skills are being employed. Through field work and secondary data, we uncover where your resident workforce is commuting to, and from where your workforce is commuting. Variables such as occupations and skills sets, education levels, willingness to change jobs, average one way commute, modes of transportation, housing costs and others variables are analyzed.
Workforce Development As the workforce ages, filling the needed job vacancies, especially in the skilled labor market will be critical. Communities that are facing a skilled labor shortage need to develop pro-active training programs with their workforce development partners to fill the labor pipeline. Nortillo and Associates, Inc, analyzes the existing workforce development services in the labor shed based on current and future labor demand.
Strategic Planning Every organization needs direction. A strategic plan is the best tool to identify where to go and how to get there. We approach an economic development strategic plan using tools similar to those used by site selector consultants. We interview the community stakeholders, hold focus groups, identify community strengths and weaknesses, develop goals and objectives, make recommendations and outline steps to achieve desired outcomes.
Target Industry Analysis Identifying a community's target industries is essential to an effective marketing plan. In any business recruitment strategy the community needs to have a handle on what industries to market. Targeting narrows down which industries are a best fit for your community.
Economic Impact Analysis A change in the economy of a community has long term effects. These effects need to be measured to determine the correct course to stabilize and sustain the economy. Economic impact analysis can determine the long-term economic impact of job loss or gain in your region.
Cost and Conditions Report
A cost and conditions report uses a proven cost model to determine the over-all cost of a start-up hypothetical business in your area. This report compares competitive locations to show the cost advantage of locating in your community. Factors such as land prices, taxes and fees are included in the model. |
